AIPS President sends a message of congratulation to Journalists

LAUSANNE, July 2, (MNA)--AIPS President has sent a message of congratulation on the occasion of the International Sports Journalists’ Day, July 2, 2008 to the world’s journalists.

Gianni Merlo’s message is as follow:
“ It is indeed my great honour and pleasure to wish you all the best for International Sports Journalists’ Day, July 2, 2008.

July 2 was earmarked by my predecessor as the official day of celebration
because of its significance as the date when the  International Sports
Press Association was established at the 1924 Paris Olympics.

This July 2, 2008 will mark the 84th anniversary of the founding of AIPS
and I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate all members of our
AIPS family.

We have indeed witnessed the development and expansion of our association
from its foundation during the 1924 Olympics with 29 nations present, into vibrant global organization representing more than 150 member countries and more
than 9,000 journalists.

I wish to take this opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of each
and every one of you and hope that you continue with your valued support.

I urge you to strive for greatness, not only professionally, but by
representing the ideals of our association by setting good examples as
global citizens. It is now more important than ever to consolidate our
traditions.

Please be active and contribute your news and views to our website
www.aipsmedia.com and magazine – magazine@aipsmedia.com. Your opinions and
suggestions are very important and valued.

Once again, my heartfelt congratulations on this festive occasion. Enjoy celebrating International Sports Journalists’ Day, 2008.”

Yours sincerely,

Gianni Merlo
AIPS President
