SHIRAZ, July 1 (MNA) – The director of Fars province Commerce department stated that the value of exports from the province to around the world reached $255 million.

“Exports from Fars went to 92 countries of the world of which the UAE, China, Iraq, Germany, Vietnam, Oman, Qatar, Pakistan, the USA and India constituted the ten main destinations,” Mohammad Hasan Nikoui-Mehr stated in a workgroup for promoting exports in Fars province.

 

He added, “Last year industry and mines with about $57 million equal to 22%, agro products $185 million equivalent to 60% and rugs and handicrafts 15% made up the provinces exports.

 

Last year, exports showed a 26% rise in terms of weight and 24% in terms of value.

 

Nikoui-Mehr explained that despite the suitable capacity and potentials of the province there were some limitations due to some factors such as a decrease in competition power on a global scale, lack of investment in industrial export and a shortage of good infrastructures needed for export such as transit roads.
