Iran wins colorful Asian juniors weightlifting medals

TEHRAN, Oct. 29 (MNA) – Iran snatched two golds, one silver, and two bronzes at the Asian Junior Men’s Weightlifting Championships in Amman, the capital of Jordan, Monday.

 

Majid Askari representing the country in the 50kg category hoisted 91kg and 107kg in his snatch and clean and jerk attempts, grabbing two golds and one silver with a total 198kg record and improving the continent’s mark by two kilograms.

 

 

Silver and bronze medals went to Vietnamese and Jordanian lifters who registered 197kg (92kg, 105kg) and 169kg (74kg, 95kg) marks respectively.

 

In the 56kg class, Jaber Behruzi from Iran bagged bronze medals in snatch and total contests as he locked 101kg and 118kg above his head.

 

The Kazakh participant took the gold medal with 109kg and 131kg marks and Vietnam’s weightlifter won the silver with 101kg and 126kg records.
