"We're going to end that war very quickly. They want to make a deal so badly. They're tired of this," he claimed during an event with US lawmakers at the White House.
"It’s going to happen and it’s going to happen fast," he added.
There were no immediate comments from the Iranian side.
The conflicting signals come as Iran and the US remain locked in Pakistan-mediated peace talks that have yet to yield a breakthrough, with Tehran blaming Washington for negotiating in bad faith.
