TEHRAN, Dec. 13 (MNA) – Iran’s Intelligence Ministry announced that the ministry has dismantled a gang of criminals responsible for printing counterfeit banknotes in Kermanshah Province of Iran.

After a chain of intelligence operation probes, the members of a big gang of printing and distributing different kinds of banknotes and checks were identified and arrested by Iran’s Intelligence Ministry agents in Kermanshah, according to a statement released by the ministry.

Investigating the den of the criminals, the agents have made the largest ever seizure of fake banknotes, worth more than billions of Rials.

Using specialist paper, inks and foil, they ran off near-perfect forgeries at the print-works in Kermanshah Province and the provinces around for the last couple of years.

Some members of the ring, according to the statement, were arrested in the past months but complications of the case hindered the intelligence agents to locate the central printing house of the gang.

The statement also reassures that the mastermind and head of the ring has been arrested in the operation.
