FM urges Zimbabweans to seek dialogue, peaceful ways

TEHRAN, Nov. 16 (MNA) –In reaction to the latest developments in Zimbabwe, Iranian foreign ministry called all sides of the tensions to choose friendly ways for resolving issues.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is vigilantly monitoring the events n Zimbabwe,” said Bahram Ghasemi, the Spokesman of Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.

He made the remarks after the military took control In Zimbabwean capital city of Harare and placed decades-long President Mugabe under house arrest on Wednesday.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran asks all sides, parties, and entities involved in the recent incidents of this African country to solve the problems of their country through dialogue and only peaceful ways and constitutional frameworks adhering to democratic procedures and abstaining from violence or any use of force to rely on the will of Zimbabwean people and seek their national interests,” announced the Iranian diplomat.

Referring to the efforts staged by different African organizations and international bodies, he voiced hope to see the endeavors fruit in favorable results for establishment of peace, security, and the rule of law in Zimbabwe.
