Suicide bomber in Turkey shot

TEHRAN, Sep. 06 (MNA) – A suicide bomber was shot dead on Sept. 6 while preparing for an attack targeting a police station in the southern province of Mersin.

Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor Mustafa Ercan told police shot a “suicide bomber” planning an attack against the 50. Yıl Police Station in the Yenişehir district, according to Hurriyet  Daily.

He said the militant might have been a member of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and that authorities would issue a detailed statement over the incident.

He also added that a suicide vest on the militant was seized.

Security forces have been conducting their inspections at the scene.
