Iran’s attendance in Moscow security confab

TEHRAN, May 01 (MNA) – The 6th Moscow Conference on International Security recently held attended by Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan and several high-ranking defense delegations and experts from various countries.

Over 700 participants, namely 25 heads of delegation, chiefs of the general staff of the armed forces, senior commanders and experts from 80 countries attended the two-day event which was aimed at providing the participating countries with the opportunity to consult on defense and security issues.

"International fascism"

During the conference, Iran and Russia have once again condemned the recent US missile attack against a Syrian army airbase, stressing that such acts block the formation of a united front against terrorism.

Dehqan and Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov both commented on the attack during their speeches made at the gathering.

Dehqan said the missile raid was against all international regulations.

Underlying that Washington’s unconstructive role in the Middle East, Iranian minister said the US is trying to stage a new form of “international fascism” by implementing a new doctrine and by “commercializing security.”

Pointing out to factors contributing to the current local and international imbalance and violence, Dehqan cited American President Donald Trump’s volatility in word, attitude and decision-making as well as the US, Israel, Britain, and Saudi Arabia supporting and reinforcing Takfiri terrorist groups against regional governments, PressTV wrote.

He also warned that neither the US nor any other country can attain its “political and expansionist” goals by backing war and terrorism.

Unless terrorism is vanquished in Syria and Iraq -- which hold the largest concentrations of Takfiris -- the terrorists would soon be targeting all their backers, including the US, Europe, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey “with the most violent acts,” he further cautioned.

In addition to addressing the conference, Dehqan also held separate meetings with Defense Minister of Russia Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shoygu and his counterparts from Brazil, India, Venezuela and Serbia.

He said the three countries discussed the reasons behind US recent missile attack on a Syrian air base under the fabricated pretext of using chemical weapons by the Syrian government.

After the achievements made on the ground by the Syrian Army, the terrorists faced a confusing situation and lost their morale and needed their allies to express their support for them so that they would be encouraged to continue with their acts, the minister said.

He said what the US president did was contrary to what he had said before as he had said the US would fight Daesh to uproot this terrorist group and that they would have nothing to do with President Bashar Assad.
