Neighboring states voice remarkable avidity for Iran's stem cell fest.

TEHRAN, Apr. 05 (MNA) – Neighboring countries have expressed remarkable eagerness to participate in Iran’s 1st National Festival and International Congress on Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, said Iran’s Council on Development of Stem Cell Sciences and Technology.

Amir Hossein Hamidieh, director of the Council on Development of Stem Cell Sciences and Technology at the office of Vice-President for Science and Technology, said there has been a high number of requests from neighboring countries such as Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Iraq, Armenia and Pakistan, to participate in the first National Festival and International Congress on Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine in Iran.

“So far, the participation of representatives from 18 countries including the US, Britain, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Italy and India, has been affirmed,” he said.

Over 10 prominent Iranian lecturers living abroad will be present in the congress, and some 20 Iranian expatriates have announced their readiness to take part in the first conference of ideas and innovations, he said.

Hamidieh further added that the festival has been registered in the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR), an independent nonprofit organization that serves as the voice of the stem cell research community.

The ISSCR was founded in 2002 to foster the exchange of information on stem cell research and now claims more than 4,100 members worldwide.

The first National Festival and International Congress on Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine will be held in Iran with cooperation and management of the Council on Development of Stem Cell Sciences and Technology from 19-21 May, 2016.
