Iranian device helps people with spinal injury stand

TEHRAN, Oct. 26 (MNA) – An Iranian knowledge-based company has built a device that can help patients with spinal injuries stand.

Saeid Sarmadi, the project manager of ‘Istaman’ and the CEO of the knowledge-based company ‘Idepardazan-e Sepehr’ located in Isfahan told Mehr News that Istaman has been developed with the aim to help patients with spinal injuries stand.

According to Sarmadi, the device can be useful for the elderly, patients suffering from MS, spinal injuries, strokes, severe stenosis, mobility impairment and children suffering from cerebral palsy disorders.

“The device provides a leaning support for the user so that he/she will be able to move from a sitting position on the bed or the chair to a completely standing position by the help of an electric motor, two belts and a seat,” he said.

The features of Istaman include safety disconnect switch, an electric lifting belt, the ability to control via suction and discharge of the mouth, shock absorber to easily adjust the desk height, four wheels to move the device, and a lock for fixing the position of the device.

Sarmadi added that the device also helps with preventing involuntary contraction of the muscles in the calves, knees, pelvis, reducing spasm, improving renal function and blood circulation.
