Iran calls for an end to destructive policies against region

TEHRAN, Sep. 06 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham advised neighboring countries to stop policies which have set the region on fire and adopt dialogue to solve problems.

"Our neighboring countries should end their support for the extremist groups, terrorists, killing innocent people of Yemen and creating waves of refugees in Syria and Iraq," Afkham said in response to statements by Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir in a press conference in Washington.

Emphasizing the need for taking a realistic and constructive stance to safeguard peace and security in the region, she reaffirmed that insisting on the wrong issues would bear no fruits but wasting opportunities facing the region and delaying the resolution of the crises.

Afkham advised the neighboring countries to resort to dialogue instead of dangerous military acts, underlining that the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that negotiations are the best solution for settling the regional conflicts through political means.

Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir in a press conference in Washington on September 4, despite expressing willingness to seek better relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, claimed Iran plans to make a mess of the Middle East.
