Iran did not shut UK embassy

TEHRAN, Aug. 23 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Iran did not close down the UK embassy in Tehran.

Talking on the sidelines of a gathering in Allameh Tabatabei University here on Sunday, Zarif said Iran intended to normalize ties with the whole world except for a few exceptions.

Pointing to the reopening of the UK embassy in Tehran on Sunday, Iranian FM reiterated that Iran did not close down the British embassy in Tehran and it was the UK itself who decided to do so.

"Today, the whole world has recognized the constructive role Iran played both in region and the world," Zarif said, stressing that the reopening of the UK embassy in Tehran and the presence of Europeans here proved the fact.

Zarif underlined it as a reality that Iran is present in the world as a main and rational player.
