Iraqi, Syrian resistance helped by Iran’s veterans

TABRIZ, Aug. 21 (MNA) – Senior Iranian official hailed the role of the veteran military personnel in the Holy Defense (1980-88) and its aftermath.

Iraqi and Syrian army were successful in resistance because of advisory help provided by Iranian veteran warriors, said Ali Shamkhani the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) on Thursday addressing a gathering in the northwestern city of Tabriz.

Shamkhani highlighted the lasting influence of selfless veterans in advising the Iraqis and Syrians in war against terrorists trained by Zionist regime.

He further lamented that the concept of Jihad has been distorted by those supporting terrorism in a bid to abuse the notion as a scapegoat against the Islamic world.

There would be no way through the current crisis in the region without implementing the real concept of Jihad in fighting against the destructive terrorism of ISIL, said the Secretary of Iran’s SNSC adding that the experience of the last years had proven the efficiency of local capacity in dealing with insecurity in contrast with inefficacy of foreign military intervention.

The senior Iranian official called Vienna agreement of July 14 a success for Iranians achieved by Jihadi stance against enemies and formidable determination for victory.

Referring to American officials’ confessions about lack of unanimity among westerners for continuing sanctions and inability to stop Iran’s wholly peaceful nuclear program, Shamkhani concluded that the strategies devised by Iran’s Leader were appropriate and triumphant.

The rear-admiral urged unity between the nation and the state to form an iron wall preventing the arrogant system from infiltrating into Iran.

Shamkhani condemned any divisive or partisan approach toward the Vienna agreement breaking the national fabric and benefiting the enemies of Iran.
