Iran trounces Thailand in Asian Volleyball Champ.

TEHRAN, Aug. 04 (MNA) – Crushing the Thai volleyball team, the Iranian squad won its fourth consecutive match in 2015 Asian Volleyball Championship.

In their first fight in the 2nd round of the 2015 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship which is held in Tehran, the Iranian volleyball players, on Monday, overpowered Thailand in straight sets (25-20, 25-11, 25-20) to keep their excellent performance in the tournament threatening the coming rivals.

Still in the 2nd round, Iran national volleyball squad B is scheduled to face South Korea on Tuesday at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran.

At the helm Peyman Akbari commented on his team’s victory saying that “Thailand plays like the other East Asian teams; however we had analyzed them well."

In its three previous encounters, the Iranian team picked up a straight-set win over Kuwait (25-13, 25-22, 25-13) in its opening match on Friday and then scored a straight-sets victory in its second match versus Kazakhstan (25-23, 25-16, 27-25).

Iran’s last performance in pool A was against Chinese Taipei where Iranian volleyball players blanked Taiwan 3-0: 25-16, 25-16 and 25-19.

The 2015 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship opened at Azadi Sports Complex in western Tehran on July 31 and will run until August 8.

Australia, India, Turkmenistan and Qatar form Pool B, while Oman, Pakistan, South Korea and Thailand are drawn in Pool C. Pool D comprises Bahrain, China, Japan as well as Sri Lanka.
