The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei issued a decree to appoint Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani as chief of the Judiciary system of Iran for another five years.
In the decree the Leader pointed to Ayatollah Larijani’s significant, intelligent, revolutionary and honest management and in addition to thanking him for his work during his previous term asserted that his experience along with interaction and cooperation among the three branches can be effective in the establishment of the Islamic judicial system and the administration of justice and that would promote justice across the country to strongly counter corruption.

The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran incudes three branches; Judiciary, Legislative and Executive Branches.
Based on Article 157 of Iranˈs Constitution, the Leader appoints the judiciary chief for a five-year term.
Chief of the Legislative branch is always elected by the parliamentarians after they are elected in a nationwide parliamentarian election across the country.
Also the Executive Branch head, which is the president of Iran, is elected directly by popular vote.
At present, Mr Hassan Rouhani is the president of the Islamic Republic, head of the Executive Branch. Also Mr Ali Larijani is the head of the Legislative Branch, speaker of the Parliament and Ayatollah Amoli Larijani is appointed as the chief of the Judiciary Branch of the Iranian government for another five-year term.
