The report added that this complex includes eight units of olefin, ethane recovery, propylene, heavy polyethylene, ethylene glycol, offsite utilities, feeding and infrastructure units. Over 90 percent of these units were completed by late October.
The total production of the complex is over 1.8 million tons usable in downstream units consisting of different kinds of plastic including cable, films, pipes as well as textile industry, glue, antifreeze and paint, according to the report.
Marun Petrochemical Complex is being constructed in Bandar Imam Special Economic Petrochemical Zone, some parts of which are predicted to be operational by early 2005 and the others will come on stream in the following year. National Petrochemical Co., Saudi Arabia’s SABIK Co., Oil Pension Fund and Pushineh Polymer Industrial Group are jointly constructing this complex.
