TEHRAN, Oct. 4 (MNA) -– A report released by the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Industries and Mines declared on Monday that 404,257 light and heavy vehicles were produced at the first half of the current Iranian year(March 20-Sept. 20, 2004), indicating a 19% growth compared with the corresponding period during last year.

The report added that 83,998 vehicles were produced on September 2004, which has been increased 17% comparing with the same month last year.

 

Passenger cars, with an output of 348,000 vehicles, constitute the highest number of vehicles produced in spring and summer. The rest of the produced vehicles include pickups (37,800), minibuses (284), buses (2,093), and trucks (12,040). Among the passenger cars, Pride (Nasim and Saba), with 110,471 units took the lead.

 

According to the report during this period, production of Paykan slowed by 10%, while production of trucks and passenger cars rose by 165% and 15% respectively as compared with the same period last year.
