TEHRAN, Sept. 15 (MNA) -- Master Islamic architect Haj Hossein Lorzadeh died at the age of 98 on Tuesday, September 14.

Hossein Lorzadeh was born in 1906 in Tehran. His father, Master Mohammad, was one of the renowned architects of his time and was a colleague of Haj Hassan Sani’ al-Divan.

 

He studied under Master Mirza Hassan as young child. Later, his hidden potential began to bloom in primary school. He went on to study sculpture at the Kamal-ul-Molk High School, and continued his studies with Seyed Mohammad-Taqi Naqash Bashi.

 

Haj Hossein Lorzadeh is best known for his work on the courtyard of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala. He also designed and worked on the gate of the main branch of Bank Shahi (now called Bank Tejarat), worked on the design and construction of the Mausoleum of Ferdowsi in Tus, and designed and participated in the construction of 842 mosques.
