Mohammadi added that the area of shrimp-breeding farms has increased from 26 to 170 hectares with a capability to hold 30 million shrimp in fish farm pools.
He went on to say that 54 days have passed since the beginning of the shrimp breeding season, adding that during this time they have grown well, weighing 4.5 grams on average.
He predicted that the average weight of each shrimp would increase to 15-16 grams by the end of the four-month breeding period.
This year 300 to 350 tons of shrimp will be produced in Cho’badeh’s breeding farms. The additional shrimp-breeding farms have been set up in the region this year with the cooperation of the Veterinary Organization, the Fisheries Organization, the Agriculture Jihad Ministry, and the Cooperatives Ministry, with the financial support of the Agriculture Bank.
The site for breeding shrimp in Cho’badeh covers an area of 4000 hectares and includes 200 fish farms. Five factories package shrimp, one factory produces shrimp feed, and three factories are responsible for shrimp breeding.
