According to IRNA, the trip is part of a 9-day visit to Iran, which began June 24. The delegation will attend technical and professional sessions with business people and other related officials of Shiraz, the capital of Fars province.
Deputy Economy Minister in Asian and Commercial Affair of Baden-Württemberg, Hans Ferdinand Fray is being accompanied by a number of high-ranking state officials most notably the Middle East Projects director with the Ministry of Economy and Technology, the Geology and Mine Organization Chairman, and the Managing Director of the International Baden-Württemberg Company, as well as the State Chairman of Central Bank.
Possibilities of investment in the field of electronics in the region are to be studied while over 100 economic projects ready for investment will be introduced to the delegation.
Sharing a long border with France and Switzerland, Baden-Württemberg is one of the most prosperous German states, and is highly industrialized.
Baden-Württemberg’s manufactured products include textiles, motor vehicles, machinery, chemicals, leather goods, pottery, glass, furniture, clocks, and optical equipment.
In 2002, Iran imported about $178 million worth of goods and services from Baden-Württemberg while in 2003, the state’s export to Iran registered $198 million showing a 21 percent growth.
In another development, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Naser Khaleqi and German Ambassador to Tehran Baron Paul Von Maltzahn in a meeting here Tuesday discussed the formation of Iran-Germany Economic and Labor Commission.
During the visit, Khaleqi stressed the need for boosting cooperation between the two countries and dispatching of skilled and expert Iranian manpower to Germany.
For his part, Maltzahn expressed satisfaction over the meeting, announcing that the German Minister for Economics and Labor Wolfgang Clement was expected to visit Tehran in the near future.
The envoy welcomed Iran-Germany collaboration and referred to technical and professional training as his infrastructure to the national economic development.
