TEHRAN, July. 22 (MNA) – A new domestically manufactured tank transporter, named the Sayyad, was unveiled in a ceremony held in Tehran on Sunday, according to the public relations department of the Iranian Army.

Army Commander Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said during the ceremony that the vehicle had been designed and manufactured by Iranian experts in order to increase the mobility of Army units and improve the Army’s capability to engage in asymmetrical warfare. 

Brigadier General Pourdastan also said that the transporter was a strategic vehicle which could be used to transport various armored vehicles in the shortest time possible. 

The Sayyad has a 610-horsepower engine and is able to carry a payload of more than 70 tons, he added. 

The Fars News Agency also reported on Saturday that new domestically manufactured tank transporters would be delivered to the cavalry units of the Army in the near future.
