Elias Jaua, the new Venezuela Foreign Minister said: “if the US considers economic or any other type of sanctions against this country, we would also take measure in trade, energy, economic and political reactions to properly respond the US action.”
Assistant Secretary of State for Latin America, Roberta Jacobson did not rule out any possible sanctions against Venezuela, in case that Venezuela refused to recount presidential election votes. Jacobson had told Spanish language CNN news network that: “We cannot say whether we will apply penalties or not.”
