TEHRAN, Feb. 20 (MNA) – According to Islamic Republic of Iran’s Majlis (Parliament) legislation maternity leave for Iranian women has risen from 6 months to 9 months.

According to MNA parliamentary reporter, during the open session of Majlis MPs have passed a family planning reform bill and reviewed some of its general and details rule for the bill, where the fathers would get 2 weeks of incentive leave after the birth of their child.

According to one of the amendments adopted, through a bill presented to Majlis, the administration can establish privileges, or creates restrictions according to the number of children every 5 years, and considering General Census, demographic composition, and political, security, economic and social well-being indices in accordance with the overall policy framework, that complies with the criteria set forth in the rules of the 5-year program.

In this legislation, the maternity leave will be extended for mothers whose child is under 9 months of age.
