ISTANBUL, July 3 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iranian Commerce Minister, Mohammad Shariatmadari, stressed upon the promotion of economic and trade ties between Tehran and Ankara during the first day of the ceremony which opened this morning in Istanbul.


He said Iran possesses high economic capacity offering a potential market open to Turkish investors, businessmen, and industrialists. The minister claimed, “The passing of the new investment law in Iran can help, both the Turkish and Iranian businessmen in expanding bilateral cooperation.”

Turkish Foreign Trade Minister, Kursad Tuzmen, expressed satisfaction with the existing bilateral relations and reiterated that his country is ready to develop ties further, saying “There are no legal impediments on promoting ties between the two nations.”

Iranian Ambassador to Turkey, Firouz Dolatabady, and Bahaman Hosseinpour, the embassy chief counselor in Istanbul called for promotion of economic and trade relations between Iran and Turkey.  They laid emphasis on historical ties between the two countries adding that despite their huge potential, the present level of bilateral cooperation falls short of expectations.

A number of political and cultural officials together with businessmen from both sides took part in the ceremony, here in Istanbul.
