The film, which is about a marital breakdown set against a backdrop of social and family turmoil, is one of the entries in the 21st Focus on Asia Fukuoka International Film Festival, which will be held in Japan from September 16 to 25.
The film will also compete at the New York Film Festival which will be held from September 30 to October 16.
In addition, the film is currently competing in the Norwegian International Film Festival that opened on August 17. The festival runs until August 26.
“Nader and Simin” won five awards during July 2011. The Pula Film Festival in Croatia selected “Nader and Simin” as the Best Film and Armenia’s Golden Apricot.
The St. Petersburg International Film Festival Kinoforum awarded the film won a grand prix and the film won two top awards at the 32nd Durban International Film Festival.
In February, “Nader and Simin” won a Golden Bear for best film at the Berlin film festival and its cast ensemble received best actor and actress Silver Bears.
The Iranian cineastes are discussing submission of “Nader and Simin” as the Iranian representative for Oscars 2012.
Farhadi’s previous film “About Elly” was Iran’s submission to the Annual Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Films category in 2009.
