“Any request that arises from UN resolution is illegitimate and unacceptable, because the Iran nuclear case was illegally referred to the UN Security Council by few members of the Board of the Governor, and the UN illegally, unjustifiably and under political pressure adopted sanctions resolutions against Iran,” Soltanieh said during his speech at the IAEA Board of Governors meeting on Wednesday.
“Iran and most of the IAEA members will not allow the UN Security Council to dictate to the agency what to do or not to do,” he emphasized.
The Iranian diplomat also criticized the IAEA director for disclosing some confidential information about Iran’s nuclear activities in its recent report.
“This report contained many technical details about Iran’s nuclear activities meant for peaceful purposes. This (disclosure of information) goes against the IAEA obligation not to disclose the member countries’ confidential information,” Soltania explained.
