TEHRAN, June 30 (Mehr News Agency) – Iranian musician Keivan Saket is convinced that eclectic music embraces music of various nations and cultures.

“There is no exact definition for eclectic music in Iran, since the combination of western musical instruments with Iranian traditional ones can not be assumed as eclectic music,” claims Saket.

Referring to his new method of playing the 'tar' and 'setar', Saket said he has worked hard to show that world music pieces composed for piano, violin, flute and guitar can be played by the 'tar' as well.

“I believe tar is an instrument which the world needs to know about, for it is quite amazing to foreign listeners to hear western music played by an eastern instrument. Eastern music has been highly welcomed in the western world and musicians should help promote it further,” he concluded.

He has performed several pieces chosen from Iran, India, Azerbaijan together with the European music of Baroque and Romanticism in different European countries.
