TEHRAN, May 14 (MNA) -- Shahram Nazeri plans to perform a concert in honor of the Iranian blank verse poet Nima Yushij on May 20.

The concert will be held at Nima’s home in the village of Yush, the home town of the poet who is considered the father of Persian blank verse poetry, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Friday.

Nazeri will perform a repertoire of poems by Nima during the concert.

The performance will be held on the sideline of a seminar on Nima, which has been organized by the Faculty of Persian Language and Literature of the University of Mazandaran on the 50th anniversary of the death of the poet.

Born Ali Esfandiari, Nima (1896-1960) died of pneumonia in the Shemiran neighborhood in Tehran, but was buried in Yush located in Iran’s northern province of Mazandaran, as he had willed.

Nazeri is also slated to give concerts in honor of the Persian Gulf on Kish Island from May 25 to 27.

Nazeri’s concert in Bushehr, which had been scheduled for National Persian Gulf Day on April 30, was cancelled due its coincidence with a religious observance.
