HERNING, Denmark, Sept. 22 (MNA) -- Iran’s Mehdi Taghavi Kermani claimed a gold medal in the World Wrestling Championships in Messecenter, Denmark late Monday.

The 66kg category freestyle wrestler defeated Russian Rasul Djukaev 1-0, 1-0 and won the title.

The other winners on Monday were North Korea’s Kyong-Il Yang in 55 kg and Gatsalov in 96 kg. Gatsalov won the World Championships for the fourth straight time.

Iran’s freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling teams are participating in the 2009 World Championships in Herning, Denmark from September 21 to 27.
