It is the Islamic jurisprudent who directly or indirectly gives legitimacy to all governmental posts and officials’ decisions, they said in a statement issued on Friday.
And based on the Constitution and the guidelines set by the Founder of the Islamic Republic, the late Imam Khomeini, if the result of a presidential election is not authorized by the Islamic jurisprudent, the presidency is not legitimate, the statement added.
The Assembly of Experts members urged President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to obey Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s orders and heed his advice.
The statement also said that the Assembly of Experts, many religious figures, and revolution loyalists expect Assembly of Experts Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, who they said has always adhered to the ideas of Imam Khomeini and stood by the leadership, to show more support for the Supreme Leader at this sensitive juncture in order foil the enemies’ conspiracies.
