TEHRAN, MAY 20 (MNA) – Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMCA) is to compile and publish encyclopedia of the artworks preserved at the museum.

An extensive project is underway to conduct research, supervised by artist Mehdi Hosseini, on the priceless treasures preserved at the museum, TMCA director Mahmud Shaluii informed the Persian service of Fars News Agency.

The encyclopedia, which will come out in several editions, will contain all the Iranian and foreign artifacts preserved at the museum.

The book will include information on each artist, the technique of each of his works, the artistic background of the artist, the artistic value of the artwork, and the reviews of other critics and artists on each work, Shaluii said, adding, “None of the artworks will be priced in this book.”

On purchasing foreign artworks, he commented, “Our policy is to support Iranian art and artists and that’s why we are not purchasing any foreign art for the time being. But if a great foreign masterpiece becomes available to us at a reasonable price, we might think it over.”

Shaluii remarked that Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art is proud of both its Iranian and foreign collections.
