Iran was held to a goalless draw by Thailand at the Rajamangala National stadium on Wednesday.
Speaking at the post match news conference, Daei said, “As I anticipated, we had a difficult match against Thailand and did a good job. Iran was the better team; however, it could not take advantage of its chances. Of course I am happy with this result and think an away tie can be considered as a good result. We are going to beat them in the home match.”
“The match against Thailand was a preface ahead of our match with South Korea in the 2010 World Cup qualifications. We will have our foreign-based players in the match against South Korea which will be held in front of our fans. We could have defeated Thailand if our key players took part in the match. Of course this doesn’t mean I am not happy with my players,” he added.
Iran will utilize its full potential against South Korea, the former Iran striker stated.
“I am thinking about the match against South Korea. I have special plans for this match but I have yet to decide about the starting lineup,” Daei concluded.
Iran will host South Korea on February 11 at the Azadi stadium in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
