TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (MNA) -- Iran established 41 manufacturing and industrial units in 12 free trade zones and special economic zones between March 20 and September 21, 2008.

Ahad Amirmohammadi, the president’s advisor for free trade zones and special economic zones, announced here on Saturday that 25 units have been established in the Kish, Qeshm, Chabahar, Arvand, and Aras free trade zones and 16 in the Salafchegan, Bushehr, Mahshahr, Yazd, Sarakhs, Sirjan, and Persian Gulf special economic zones, IRNA reported.

 

Amirmohammadi said 170 billion rials and $35 million was allocated for the projects, which created over 1,300 job opportunities.

 

In the six-month period, the Persian Gulf Special Economic Zone, which is located in Bandar Abbas, attracted nearly $30 million in foreign investment, making it the most successful of Iran’s FTZs and SEZs, he added.
