TEHRAN, NOV. 2 (MNA) -- The director of the Labor Ministry’s Department for the Employment of Foreigners has said the Interior Ministry and the police have been unable to deport the two million undocumented Afghan workers living in Iran.

“We have already protested over the inattention to the issue, but there has been no result,” Mohammad Hassan Salehi Maram stated on Sunday.

Asked about the government’s plans, he said the expulsion of illegal workers from the country is the duty of the police and the Interior Ministry.

The Labor Ministry had earlier announced that a new program to round up and deport undocumented workers was to begin in autumn.
