“And the first general assembly of women scientists in the Organization of the Islamic Countries (OIC) is to be held in Iran,” Deputy Science Minister in International Affairs Arsalan Ghorbani told MNA here on Wednesday.
Proposed by the Islamic Republic of Iran, the network is to be created in a bid to foster participation of women in developing policies and making decision in the scientific field, Ghorbani said.
Referring to other approvals received from the 4th Islamic Conference of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ghorbani said that establishment of a citation system entitled Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) was finalized in the conference.
According to Ghorbani, Iran has also been appointed as the center for the layout of the magazines of the Islamic countries. And all the OIC member states were obliged to cooperate with the Islamic Republic of Iran in this regard.
ISESCO also approved Iran’s proposal on naming 2009 the Year of Flourishing and Innovation of Islamic countries.
Under the ISESCO’s approval, the First Islamic countries’ students’ Science Olympiads will also be held in Iran.
The 4th Islamic Conference of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research was held in Baku from October 6-8.
