“The agency has been able to continue to verify the non-diversion of declared nuclear material in Iran,” said the report received by the Tehran Times.
“Iran has provided the agency with access to declared nuclear material and has provided the required nuclear material accounting reports in connection with declared nuclear material and activities.”
Reaffirming Iran’s declaration that it will only enrich uranium to a degree required for running nuclear reactors, the International Atomic Energy Agency said the “results have shown particles of low enriched uranium” in Iran.
However, the IAEA said “Iran has not suspended its enrichment related activities” as demanded by the UN Security Council.
Iran insists that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty it has right to enrich uranium for civilian application.
Iran’s ambassador to the IAEA, Ali-Asghar Soltanieh, said if ElBaradei reports on Iran’s nuclear activities ten years later he will still say that “there is no evidence at hand to substantiate diversion of Iran’s nuclear activities to a military grade.”
“The report also said the IAEA’s inspections, which have been unprecedented in history, confirm that all nuclear substances (of the country) have been checked and no diversion has been found,” Soltanieh told the IRNA news agency.
Asked about the alleged weaponization studies, he said, “As for the alleged studies it should be said that the agency failed to forward related documents …due to the U.S. procrastination and its interference in the agency’s internal affairs…Iran in more than 117 pages gave logical answers, proving that the U.S. claims on laptop are totally baseless and fabricated.”
In its Monday report the IAEA said Iran has stymied inquiry into whether it covertly researched how to make an atom bomb.
