TEHRAN, Aug. 26 (MNA) – The Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) chairman here on Tuesday announced that the PMO has planned to boost its fleet capacity 15 million tons by 2009 from the current 11 million tons.

Talking to Mehr News Agency, Ali Taheri Motlaq said that the country’s ports still have 12 million tons of vacant capacity. “Since the promotion of the country’s transit income is the Ministry of Roads and Transportation’s main objective, a proper planning is necessary for applying the vacant capacities in ports,” he noted.
