TEHRAN, July 6 (MNA) -- Iran’s non-oil exports reached $5.819 billion in the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20).

According to the Public Relations Office of Iran’s Customs Administration, 9.92 million tons of various products including gas condensates were exported in the mentioned period of time, showing a 2.16 percent increase compared to the same period in 2007.

 

Excluding gas condensates, the volume of exports amounted to 8.175 million tons worth $4.257 billion showing a 10.41 percent and a 36.95 percent rise in weight and in value respectively when compared to the corresponding figures over the same period in the previous year.   

 

The Fourth Socio-Economic Development Plan has envisaged exporting $2.895 billion worth of non-oil products for the mentioned period of time. This is while the $4.257 billion export of products aside from gas condensates is 147 percent of what was anticipated.

 

Also during the first quarter of the current Iranian year (started March 20) the country had 8.962 million tons worth $12.995 billion of imports showing a 20.39 percent decrease in weight yet a 17.41 percent increase in value.

 

The report also states that in the fourth development program imports for this period had been estimated to reach $9.945 billion, but with the amount of $12.995 imported a 130.67 percent increase can be seen.  

 

The UAE with 1.02 million tons stands as Iran’s main export destination with China, India, and Japan following close by.

 

The UAE with 27.58 percent of the total weight and 25.58 of the total value also stands as the main exporter to the country in this period.

 

Germany with 5.94 percent of the total weight and 11.34 percent of the value, China with 7.22 percent weight and 9.2 of the value, Switzerland with 11.48 percent weight and 5.45 value, Korea with 4.61 percent of the total made up 57.19 percent of the weight and 56.73 percent of the value of imports in the first quarter.

 

Also 13,434 vehicles worth $275.238 million were imported into the country in this period which this shows a 84 percent rise in number of cars and a 96.39 percent increase in value to the same period in the previous Iranian year.

 

The most imported product regarding weight and value in this period was gasoline.

 

Gasoline with $911.800 million allocated 7.02 percent of the total imported products to the country in this period to itself.
