“The factory would produce antibiotics,” he said.
Iran is slated to provide manpower and technical knowledge for the project while financial resources will be supplied by the country itself, Rasekh added.
Anti-anxiety, memory recovery, anti-depression, antidispepsia, and prostate cancer remedies are to be produced in the factory, he stated.
Meanwhile, he said that Iran has agreed to export herbal drugs to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and African countries according to a bilateral contract with the giant medicine distributing company, Halal Food. “The contract is worth $10 million,” he added, saying that importing countries should initially pay a deposit for their request.
“They will receive their shipment 45 days after the initial request is made.”
Herbal drugs are not produced with acceptable quality in Iran for there are no export control tests for these products, Rasekh regretted. Iran sells high-quality raw materials to the European countries in low prices while it has to import expensive drugs from the same countries.
