Faranak Dalpi, Saeed Abutaleb’s wife, said here Friday that she received the first reliable message about her husband from Iran’s charge d’affairs in Iraq Alireza Haqiqian.
Pointing to her earlier talks with Iranian media on the 100th day of the imprisonment of her husband and Soheil Karimi, she was really worried that they might face a case similar to what happened to the four Iranian diplomats in Lebanon.
“We were afraid our husbands were ignored during the commotion of Iraq.”
According to Haqiqian, Iranian consul in Baghdad met with the two documentarians in Omm’l Qasr prison on Wednesday. The provisional Governing Council of Iraq as well as the International Red Cross would help Iran pursue its efforts for the freedom of Abutaleb and Karimi, the official added.
The two IRIB documentarians were detained and incarcerated in Iraq on July 1st while they were trying to make a documentary about post-war Iraq.
