In a joint press conference with the Libyan Prime Minister Baghdadi Ali al-Mahmudi, Iranian first Vice-President Parviz Davudi stated that the two Muslim countries enjoy vast potential and capabilities for boosting ties.
“I am happy that there are key economic figures in your accompanying team which indicates that the Muslim country of Libya is keen on expanding economic ties with Iran,” Davudi said in address to Libyan PM.
Referring to last year’s Iran-Libya joint committee meeting, the Iranian veep said, “We are eager and set to see enhanced relations in political and economic areas with Libya”.
For his part, the Libyan prime minister said, “Libya is determined to boost comprehensive cooperation with Iran.”
The Libyan PM said he is happy visiting Iran. “The two countries have historical ties and we hold Iran in great esteem and our friendship with Iran is a pride for us.”
Al- Mahmudi stated that the time has come for more cooperation and coordination between Tehran and Tripoli in relations to political standing on matters of the Islamic world particularly the developments in Lebanon, Iraq, and Palestine.
In his first round of talks with Davudi the Libyan top executive official said Iranian businessmen are welcome to invest in Libya. He also called for establishing a special committee to follow up the implementation of agreements.
