TEHRAN, June 9 (MNA) -- The Saba Art and Cultural Institute and the Netherlands Embassy in Tehran in a collaborative effort will commemorate Rembrandt and a number of other great 17th-centruy Dutch artists in an exhibition, which will be held from June 12 until July 10.

Entitled “Rembrandt and the Dutch Golden Age”, the event will showcase a collection of works by other Dutch painters of the seventeenth century including Jan Steen, Hans Hals and Jan Vermeer.

The opening ceremony will be attended by the Dutch ambassador to Tehran and several Iranian cultural figures.

The Saba Gallery is located on Mozaffar St., Taleqani Ave. near Felestin Square. The show will continue until July 1.

Rembrandt’s paintings are characterized by luxuriant brushwork, rich color, and a mastery of chiaroscuro. Numerous portraits and self-portraits exhibit his ability to portray a profound penetration of character.
