TEHRAN, May 5 (MNA) -- The exhibition, which brings to light various aspects of the art of miniature painting, opened here on Friday at Tehran's Imam Ali Religious Arts Museum.

Several works by veteran artists including Mahmud Farshchian, Aidin Aghdashlu, Gizella Varga Sinaii, Kazem Chalipa, and Mehdi Hosseini are on display.

The exhibit has been organized to review the art of Persian miniature painting and its relationship with contemporary art, and the combination of traditional and contemporary styles in miniature works.

The opening ceremony was attended by the curator of Tehran’s Museum of Contemporary Art Habibollah Sadeqi, the manager of Tehran Municipality’s visual art section Mohsen Hashemi, and the exhibit’s secretary Farah Osuli. Several artists also attended.

Sadeqi noted that, despite claims that Iranian miniature work is in a static state, contemporary artists have proved that miniature artwork can preserve its high status in world art.

On May 15 and 16 a seminar on the art of miniature painting, in which artists will discuss their opinions, will be held as a sideline of the exhibit.

The exhibit will run until May 18 at the venue which is located at No. 35, Esfandiar Street, Vali-e Asr Avenue.
