TEHRAN, March 7 (MNA) – Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki said here on Wednesday that Iran will participate in a conference on Iraq’s security along with the UN P5 and Iraq’s neighbors.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will take part in the conference by sending the deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs (Abbas Araghchi),” Mottaki told reporters at a joint press conference with Comorian Foreign Minister Ahmed Said Jaffar.

The conference, which is scheduled to be held on Saturday in Baghdad, will bring together the five permanent members of the United Nations and Iraq’s neighbors to find a way to end the daily bloodshed in Iraq.

Mottaki said the Iranian delegation will make efforts to help the Iraqi government establish security in the country.

He also expressed hope that the conference would expedite the withdrawal of foreign forces from Iraq.

Asked about Russia’s delay in delivering nuclear fuel for the Bushehr nuclear power plant, he said that Iran has honored its financial commitments to Moscow.

“We hope that Russia will start up the technical sections, especially the cooling system, of the Bushehr power plant and transfer fuel to Iran as soon as possible,” he added.

Mottaki also said that Iran and the Comoros are determined to expand ties.

The two countries can cooperate in the implementation of economic projects and the transfer of Iran’s technical and engineering experiences to the Comoros, he noted.

The Comorian foreign minister said that Moroni is ready to welcome the Iranian private sector for cooperation, especially in Islamic tourism.

Jaffar added that he had brought written messages from Comorian President Ahmed Abdallah Sambi addressed to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and President Mahmud Ahmadinejad.
