TEHRAN, Oct. 21 (MNA) – The Russian Embassy in Sudan says it's in contact with authorities and is verifying reports about a transport plane that allegedly crashed with Russian citizens on board, the diplomatic mission stated.

 Russia says it is investigating the claimed shoot-down of a cargo jet by Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces in Darfur, media reported on Monday, "kiro7" website reported.

Meanwhile, the local media have said the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces (RSF) shot down the airplane by mistake.

Allegedly, the aircraft, an Il-76, was operated by Airline Transport Incorporation FZC, a company based in the UAE.

Video footages on X allegedly captured the moment of the crash and the aftermath and the crash site from the ground. 

Russian Federation passports were found on the site,media have claimed.
