The plays include “Electra” written by prominent Arab dramatist Tawfiq al-Hakim, “Madam Abrisham” by Ezzatollah Mehravaran, and “Pendulum’s Game” by Mahdieh Hosseini.
Translated by Qassem Ghariqi, “Electra” has a print run of 3,000 copies.
Other plays are “Mokhtar’s Choir” and “Hurr” by Mahmud Azizi. The books are centered on Imam Hussein (AS) uprising and Ashura -- the day Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions were martyred -- and the following consequences.
In addition, a collection of research on religious theater compiled by Iranian scholars Majid Sarsangi, Mehrdad Rayani-Makhsus, and Mohammadreza Farzad has also come out under the title of “Drama and Religion” on the sidelines of the international seminar on the same topics held here on Jan. 6 and 7.
The book’s articles have been translated by Reza Shirmarz, Babak Ahmadi, Ashraf Mirnezami, Yasser Hemmati, and Leila Saeidi.
