TEHRAN, May 28 (MNA) – The heads of the Iranian and Russian security councils have held talks to stress the continuation of cooperation in various fields.

Ali Akbar Ahmadian, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) of Iran held a phone conversation with Sergei Shoigu, head of the national security council of Russia on Tuesday.

Shoigu expressed his condolences to the government and people of Iran over the tragic martyrdom of the late president and his companions and expressed his sympathy on the part of the Russian government to the Iranian government.

The Russian official emphasized the continuation of high-level cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

Ahmadian, for his part, expressed his gratitude for the condolences and sympathy of his Russian counterpart and also wished him success in his new post. The Iranian official announced readiness that the two National Security Councils to be able to materialize the goals set by the leaders of the two countries in further improving relations.

The SNSC secretary also invited his Russian counterpart to visit Tehran.
