TEHRAN, Mar. 10 (MNA) – Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that Armenia is weighing the possibility of applying for membership in the European Union.

In an interview with the Turkish TV channel TRT World while in Antalya for a diplomatic forum, Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan  said that the idea of EU membership is being “widely discussed” within the country, attributing it to widespread pro-European sentiments among citizens.

He emphasized the importance for Armenia to expand its circle of partners and allies, including strengthening ties with the United States, the European Union, and India.

The foreign minister of Armenia further held an interview with Turkish Anadolu where he said that Armenia continues to deepen relations in various fields with both the EU and the European countries, referring to the existing intensive political dialogue.

"We want to further deepen our relations with the EU," Mirzoyan said, citing the following statement by Prime Minister Pashinyan: "Armenia is ready to deepen relations with the EU as much as the European Union considers possible.''
