The national airline of the United Arab Emirates, Al Etihad on Sunday launched its new passenger route between Abu Dhabi and Tehran. The airline company will operate three flights in a week between the two cities.
Direct flights from Emirates’ capital to Iranian cities had stopped for eight years. Before that, the Airlines of the Islamic Republic of Iran conducted weekly flights from Iranian city of Shiraz to Abu Dhabi.
The new direct flights to Iran’s capital city would significantly contribute to further development of trade relations between Abu Dhabi and Tehran.
Iranian nationals residing in the UAE are on the increase; their population is estimated to be in excess of 450,000 people. More than 10,000 Iranian students are studying in the Persian Gulf nation. In addition, over 6,500 Iranian companies are currently operating in the Sheikdom.
