TEHRAN, Jan. 17 (MNA) – Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman said Wednesday that in the meeting between the presidents of Iran and Russia, a comprehensive cooperation agreement will be signed between the two countries.

The spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated on Wednesday in her press conference that the intergovernmental agreement between Russia and the Islamic Republic of Iran is in the final stage of drafting, and said that this agreement will be signed during the meeting between the presidents of the tow countries.

According to "Sputnik" news agency, she explained that this document covers different aspects od multifaceted relations between Russia and Iran and establishes the strategic and comprehensive nature of the partnership between Tehran and Moscow at the official level.

"More than 20 years have passed since the signing of the current agreement [between Iran and Russia], which was signed in 2001. Many issues, including the situation in the international arena, have changed and the framework of relations between our countries has also improved to an unprecedented level," the spokeswoman said.
